General
The 63rd Annual Meeting will take place during the week of the 11
July 2011. It will be preceded by
meetings of the various sub-groups. The Scientific Committee meeting will take
place separately in Norway in June (see here). Opening Plenary Session The Plenary Session of
the meeting will be opened formally at 10:00 on Monday 11 July. The media are permitted to attend and film and
record all Plenary sessions, subject to availability
of space and practical limitations on movement,
camera positioning etc. in order to avoid disruption
of the proceedings.
Members of the Media are subject to the IWC's Rules of
Conduct at all times. Failure to comply with these
Rules will result in withdrawal of accreditation and ejection from the meeting
venue.

sound crews, are required to
register.

Registered personnel
will be given IWC Media Passes which must be visibly
displayed in order to gain access to the meeting
room and to the conference venue generally,
including the media room.
You will be required to show a current valid photo ID (eg.
passport) before you will be issued with a pass. Media registration
will take place at the Hotel de France, St. Helier on Sunday 10 July from 14:00 - 17:00 and
Monday 11 July from 08:00 - 10:00. It is strongly advised that media register and
collect their passes on Sunday afternoon, since
Monday morning will be a very busy time and there is
no guarantee that registrations on that morning will
be completed in time for the opening session. If you are
unable to register during these times, please ring
the Secretariat Media Liaison, who will arrange your
registration. Registration Fee A
registration fee of UKŁ65.00 (€75, US$105) is payable by each news entity (i.e. one
fee will cover all members of a TV or radio crew). This is payable on collection
of the Media Pass at registration. Payments in cash only will be accepted. We
regret that we are unable to accept credit cards.
Media Passes/Credentials IWC Media Passes will only be given to members of
recognised media who can produce a valid officially-recognised photo-ID
(passport, driving licence or National ID card) AND documentary proof of
membership of your Organisation (eg. Headed letter from Organisation, Press card
etc.). Contact with Delegates Members of the media will have direct access to
delegates and observers, so they will be able to
request interviews directly. Numbers and contact
names for delegation offices will be made available
as soon as they are known. The Secretariat will NOT arrange interviews with
delegates on behalf of media organisations. Media Area A Media
Area in the Hotel will be available from 14:00 - 17:00 on Sunday 10 July,
and daily for the duration of the Commission meeting
from Monday 11 - Thursday 14 July.
Telecommunication Facilities
Any media agencies who intend to bring heavy equipment require the prior
agreement of the Hotel de France.
